Arts Project with Dominic Shaw
On Tuesday a groups of us took part in a project with Dominic Shaw. There was a series of events going on throughout the day, and basically for our event, we had to act as Archaeologists from the future and take pictures of things that people from the future would find strange. We also tried to cover the other events, and take some pictures of what was going on elsewhere. We had to dress up in lab coats, goggles and carry shovels to try and act the part. Six of us took part altogether, from left to right, Sukhdeep, Rimante, Me (Paul), Hannah and Aaron.
We were all given mobile phones and asked to go out and take pictures. We were each given a different area to focus on, but we could generally take pictures of whatever we wanted. For example, I was asked to try and take pictures of people with body piercing’s and body art such as tattoos. This is some of what we found:

We were limited to what we could do with the pictures as we only had mobile phones which were fairly low quality and without basic features such as zoom and focus. However, we still managed to come out with some good shots.
Rimante stayed at the base camp and transferred the images via Bluetooth to Dominic’s laptop, and then edited them in Photoshop. We then imported them into PowerPoint to make a presentation.
Overall the day was fairly successful, despite the cold weather. Although not many people managed to watch the final presentation, as a group, we had a fun day out and worked with new people.
